Prescott Misled Parliament
As if Prime Minister John Prescott is not in enough trouble already, he has been accused of misleading the Parliament over the scale of his involvement with casino bigwigs.
The DPM has only previously admitted to having met up with casino bosses once in Sydney back in 2004. However, it was recently revealed that he has met up with another casino chief.
Prescott has confessed to having met up with a representative from Kerzner International, a casino giant that is working with casino tycoon Philip Anschutz over his bid to turn the Millennium Dome into Britain's first super casino.
Prescott however denies having had any formal meetings with the representative, only that they were introduced.
"I have had no meetings with Kerzner International. On Wednesday 17 August 2005, while on a well-publicised visit to the Greenwich Peninsula, I was one of a number of guests who were updated on progress in the area," Prescott defended.
"I believe one of those present was a representative of Kerzner International but at no time did I have any conversations about plans for a casino, and I was accompanied by officials at all time," he added.
However, Shadow Culture Secretary Hugo Swire hit back: "This is clearly misleading."
